The Welsh Language Commissioner is responsible for coordinating developments in the field of standardizing Welsh terminology in Wales.
The Commissioner’s aim is to avoid unnecessary duplication of effort, and to ensure that the most is made of funds and efforts to develop terminological and lexicographical resources of the highest standard to help people use Welsh.
The Commissioner believes that a framework should be established which will build upon past achievements and bring together the strengths and the expertise of those currently working in the field. The Commissioner has convened a panel strategic funders and key stakeholders in order to coordinate developments in this area.
Dictionaries and terminology resources
One of the Commissioner’s projects is developing and publishing an electronic version of the Welsh Academy English-Welsh Dictionary (Geiriadur yr Academi), which is available to use free of charge by following this link:

There are many other dictionaries and terminology resources available free of charge on the web. Links to some of them can be found on the right hand side of this page. The Welsh Language Commissioner is not responsible for the content or quality of these resources but the links are shared here as they will be useful for those who wish to draft documents in Welsh or bilingually.
